One large services catering for many roads at once. They are located at M1 J23a but the junction has no north-facing sliproads, so traffic heading to/from the M1 north has to leave at J24 and use the parallel A453. It forms a gateway to The National Forest, and as such it has information boards and viewpoints round the back by the lake.

Trivia:

Donington Park (commonly misspelt 'Donnington Park') was the first service area to be built round an atrium, rather like an airport terminal. There's a lake round the back.

It was one of the first sites to gain a Marks and Spencers, the store had to be extended recently to keep up with demand (it was alleged that when the store opened it was the world's smallest). It was built where the Burger King was, and the Burger King was moved. A WH Smith store also opened here, replacing Birthdays and the Moto Shop.

The services consider themselves to be the gateway to the National Forest, and at the back there are information boards and viewing platforms. They're unique because the hotel is built-in to the main service area, see the photos for an example.

On the 25th April 2008 Greg James presented BBC Radio 1's Early Morning Breakfast Show (4-7am) live from the services.

Parking problems again.
Having had a long journey with an 18 month old and a travel sick child we were hungry and tired the outdside space was great to help settle the children stomachs and stretch legs. Because of the above and several trips to the toilet we were 30 minutes over. This resulted in an £85 fine. Not only will i not use the services again I will avoid MOTO in general.

Management at Donnington Servicess, Please Please get your act together over the parking charges.
I know it's not far from the airport and some may take advantage, but just warn those innocent people who stay there in the Travelodge or meeting room area as it seems to be a money making exercise for too many innocent people. It's giving you a bad name so sort it.

i was visiting your fine country (area) from Canada staying at the Travel Lodge and using the D. Park services. we checked in on 15April2008 around 1240+am dead tired and left the same day 1127am after breakfast. well.... the lic plate on my rental was photographed entering and leaving the services compound and i was issued a rather hefty parking fine ($160.00 CN) via Trehowans Solicitors who act on behalf of the parking security for Moto Services at Donington - directly and arbitrarily taken from my visa via National Car Rental Co.
now i'm getting the Royal run around attempting to undue this injustice. :'(
the check in guy at the Travel Lodge (who we waited 20 mins to wake from sleep to assist us) gave no warning/advice on where to park to prevent Robin Hood from robbing from the poor to give to the already very rich. very sad is that. Just Beware people.....everyone wants your money *oops* shame on you for your method. David, Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

Hi there,

The sneaky thing about Donington Park is that they throw the hotel car park in with the main car park. Usually the hotel car park is free and the main one comes with an £8 charge for staying more than two hours, but in this case even if you're staying in the hotel you have to pay to park.

For a new build its incredibly badly designed, The car park is a maze and once again you have to exit via the petrol station. Narrow lanes too.

Inside its looking shoddy alresdy and the Little Chef replacement by the obsticle filled coffee bar is pretty bad. Moto need to do something about the toilet signage which is very confusing and pink.
