Trivia:

The north-facing sliproads at the services are very long due to the gradients associated with the area. There is a railway tunnel running under the services.

As well as being the last services on the M1, Woolley Edge is the last service area alphabetically, and the service area before Woolley Edge, Woodall, is also the service area before Woolley Edge when driving up the M1. Can you tell that I've ran out of things to say about these services?

I used to stop here not long after the M1 had been extended to the A1(M) and the place was a dump. Vending machines were all that was available from 22.00. My guess was a not very busy services were getting more custom since the M1 extention.
My latest stop (Oct 07) found a rebuilt services with nice food a M&S and a WH Smith.
Very impressed and a much needed improvement.
